SUSTech School of Humanities and Social Sciences

The School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS) is a primary academic unit of SUSTech, comprising six research centers: Humanities, Social Sciences & Higher Social Science Research, Higher Education (hosting the UNESCO Center for Innovation in Higher Education), Language, Arts, and Future Education Studies.

To fulfill SUSTech's mission as a world-class international research university, the school integrated cross-center resources within half a year to develop New Liberal Arts, defined by three strengths: a compact elite faculty, top-tier general liberal arts education, and interdisciplinary arts-science research.

Our educational mission delivers premium liberal arts curricula, open creative practice platforms and an enriching campus cultural environment. We cultivate interdisciplinary talents with profound expertise, social science literacy, practical capabilities and innovative thinking—leaders skilled in both arts and sciences ready for present and future challenges.
